Its MOI measurement of 5,500 grams/centimeters squared is among the highest on the market and about 25 percent higher MOI than the C722 with the heavier weight in the forward position. Putting the heavier weight in back adds more stability on off-center hits.Į722: This larger, at-the-volume-limit model positions a 30-gram weight in the extreme rear perimeter for maximum forgiveness. It also helps stabilize the frame to direct more energy to the flexing of the face, especially at those off-center areas, to provide the face-and most players-the most help. Thinner than in previous models, that ridge provides structural support to yield a more connected feel. A centralized strip of titanium that connects back to front divides the two sections. WHY WE LIKE IT: Most drivers that use carbon composite in the body start with a large panel in the crown, but the Tour Edge drivers wrap two large swaths of carbon fiber around the crown and sole like the fins of a manta ray. The more compact C722 creates two weight ports (20 and five grams) centered in the front and back of the sole that allow better players to tweak spin and launch. The larger E722 model positions a 30-gram weight in the extreme rear perimeter for maximum forgiveness. The use of large sections of carbon composite around a titanium skeleton provides plenty of discretionary weight. WHAT IT DOES: These two drivers constitute a sort of fraternal twins of modern driver design. They are however able to lower their body temperature, slow their metabolism, and live off their fat reserves for many months.Īlaska wildlife tour for a small group of just 6 travellers visiting in early June, which is the best time to see mother and cubs feeding on the shoreline. Contrary to a common misconception, grizzlies are not true hibernators and remain semi-active in their dens all winter. The sows tend to den first in mid November, with the males following up to a month later. In times of plenty such as this, grizzlies can be very fussy eaters, taking only the salmon that are in the early stages of the dramatic physical changes that prelude spawning, and then often only eating the brain, skin and underlying layer of subcutaneous fat (the parts with the highest fat content).Īfter the days of plenty during the salmon run, fall and early winter is a headlong rush to pile on the calories before entering winter dens to hibernate. Late August through to October is perhaps the best time to observe grizzly bears as they gorge themselves on salmon in shallow spawning rivers and channels. In late summer and fall they take advantage of the food bonanza that is the annual pacific salmon run. In spring and summer they often venture beyond the tree line to feed on sedge grasses in the river lowlands, and forage for crustaceans and shellfish on the shoreline of coastal estuaries and inlets. In the Canadian Pacific Northwest grizzly bears spend much of their time deep in the forest foraging for roots and berries which are critical for building fat reserves. There is a distinct possibility that grizzlies have always done so and the Polar Bear certainly evolved from an isolated population of grizzlies in Siberia, but many people including some Inuit elders believe that increased grizzly bear activity in the Artic is linked to global warming. In Canada where the population is estimated to be 25,000 there have been increased reports of grizzlies venturing out onto the Arctic sea ice to hunt seals, and competing with their Polar Bear cousins. The US population is split between Alaska (44,000) and Montana, (1,000). There are also small enclaves in Romania and northern Japan. Recent population estimates included 70,000 in North America and over 100,000 in Russia. Grizzly or brown bears range from the north western corner of the North American continent, through Siberia and northern Russia, to Finland, Sweden and Norway. A fully grown male weighs between 550 and 800 pounds (250 and 350 kilograms), and females about half that, though in recent years there have been reports of males as large as 1,600 pounds (725 kilograms) in Alaska. Typical lifespan for a grizzly in the wild is 25 years, and sows tend to have their first litter between 5 and 7, and their last at 20, typically giving birth to 2 or 3 cubs. The implications of failing to do so are far reaching, and a sow grizzly will only bear young if she is in sufficiently good physical condition to nurture cubs through a winter. We are also able to offer a week long pack horse trip in July to observe grizzlies from horseback in the Chilcotin Mountains north of Vancouver (experienced riders only).įood is all important to a grizzly and every year is a remorseless struggle to accumulate sufficient fat reserves to see them through the winter hibernation. Late autumn viewing is also offered from mid October to mid November in Northern BC. During the autumn salmon season (mid August to mid October) we can offer guided bear viewing on foot and in river driftboats in Central Mainland BC, and from secure viewing platforms or hides in Lower Mainland BC. In summer (July to mid August) the estuary boat tours continue in Lower Mainland BC, and in Northern BC where the salmon run starts early, guided viewing on foot is offered. In Spring (May & June) we can offer boat based viewing in various remote costal inlets and estuaries in Lower Mainland BC and in Northern BC. Let Wildlife Trails take you on an adventure of a lifetime to observe this magnificent animal in its natural habitat. While in spring they will prey on newborn moose, deer, elk, and caribou, and in the fall they often feast on spawning salmon, plant matter still accounts for 90% of their diet. The Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos) is known as the second largest land carnivore in the world, but in practice is an omnivore in the truest sense of the word. The fact that the mystery surrounding the woods is so well developed is another plus, as the game takes its time reveling in the oppressive atmosphere before it delivers any shocking scares.Īlthough some of the characters can be a bit rough around the edges, the story is presented in such a way that makes you want to solve every gruesome mystery that’s being slowly revealed to you. Like many other slav horror games – like the spectacular Kholat –, Tiny Bunny has a unique sense of atmosphere and overall spookiness to it that’s very hard to match. Tiny Bunny is presented entirely in black and white drawings. Fortunately, they’re usually just typos that don’t affect the overall impact of the plot. Unlike the Telltale game series, like The Walking Dead, choices can alter the outcome of the story dramatically in Tiny Bunny.įor such a text-heavy game, it's a bit disappointing to see that there are some translation errors during some gameplay segments. The game is played like most visual novels, with the slight difference being that players can actually alter the narrative by making different choices in the game. Though the children who disappear in this town are never found by the search parties formed by the neighbors, Anton seems fairly capable of finding leads that help him find those who were taken by the forest. You play as Anton: a young boy that has recently moved into the village with his family. Rumors of creatures lurking in the woods and dozens of missing children are enough for the villagers to steer clear from the forest – until some of them hear the call. The story of Tiny Bunny takes place in a small village that’s surrounded by a dense forest. The method that has been employed in REC is, I believe, a method that is now firmly embedded in the medley of cinematic processes that a film-maker may chose to exert. Cloverfield and the forth coming Diary of The Dead). Despite REC being a better film than The Blair Witch Project some critics have attacked it for employing such a tired technique that has been used too much in recent films (i.e. It is the film that I wanted to see when I queued up in the rain, 10 years ago full of hype, anticipation and adolescent excitement. Although The Blair Witch Project was a ground breaking film, given its illustrious marketing campaign and widespread fooling of audiences, if the two are to be judged purely on their viewing merits then REC is by far the superior if anything REC is the film that the Blair Witch should have been. Comparatively REC is also a horror, low budget, sticks to a female lead and has an ending that is very similar. Undoubtedly and unsurprisingly REC will be measured by the film The Blair Witch Project, especially given its plot and the manner in which the film plays out. As the film progresses the crew are lucky enough to accompany the fireman on a call out to a local apartment building. In brief, REC is a horror film that begins with the crew of a TV show, called While You Sleep, making a documentary about firemen. It is a technique in which the person behind the camera is a character that is integral to the plot, narrative and story of the film. REC is a film that utilises the POV (Point of View) camera technique for the entirety of its duration. This movie will keep you at the edge of the seats. But seeing past Hollywood's greed, "Rec" is a really good movie that anyone with a taste for horror (and zombie movies, despite these here not being typical zombies) should watch. Usually Hollywood remakes of non-American movies is crap and an insult to the original versions. The bad thing about "Rec" is that Hollywood decided to tap into the success of the Spanish movie and Americanize it. This is one of the better horror/thriller movies in a while, and it have a fresh sense of dread to it, which helps spices up the genre. Everyone portrayed their roles well and made the characters stand out as believable and real people. It all came together for a good sense of claustrophobia and hopelessness. It was so dark and brooding, that it totally made the screen come alive with sense of dread and enclosing doom. The scenery and sets brought life to the movie. The infected were great, good make-up and effects, and brought a lot of excitement to the movie. It is like you are there yourself, being a part of that horrible experience of being boxed inside a relatively small area and being stalked by crazed infected people. The way the movie is shot with the camera is amazing. And don't forget the change of knickers.Wow! This movie is the sort of movie that picks you up by the neck and drops you right in the middle of the excitement - literally. You get over it quickly.īe sure to see it in the cinema of you can, or at least with an understanding companion that doesn't bruise easily. Spanish, like French, is easily assimilated. The subtitles are not an impediment until all the lights go out and people continue to talk in the darkness. My companion, who is a normally jaded scary movie fan, had her head buried in my shoulder, screamed herself hoarse and left finger marks on my leg. Upon their arrival at the scene, the calm midnight air is pierced by the sound of horrific screams, and the television report takes an unexpectedly dark turn.Ī widely heard après cinéma comment was that does for dark apartments what JAWS did for the ocean or ALIEN did for spaceships. While covering the night shift at a big city fire department, an ambitious young television reporter and her cameraman follow the crew on a call to rescue an elderly woman trapped in her apartment. The scenario is a textbook set up for a great thriller: a limited number of diverse characters, a single location, overwhelming outside forces. There also seem to be some continuous film sequences that defy belief, as in being experienced in real time. (it stands for 'record'), is shot entirely through one news camera, providing only one POV (point of view) and puts us at the mercy of the condenser mic, wonky camera light, running, dropping and ultimately night vision. And MIFF went out with a five-alarm screamer. is a three-knickers thriller.Īt the end of the MIFF closing night screening of this Spanish entry, the cinema management no doubt acknowledged the benefit of vinyl seats.
